Pop Galo is 10 meters high, weighs 3 tons and has 17 thousand LEDs

Pop Galo, the latest work by Joana Vasconcelos, was inaugurated at Ribeira das Naus on November 6, 2016, marking the beginning of the Web Summit. The latest - and colorful - thing in Lisbon has 17 000 LEDs arranged on tiles 'Widow Lamego'.The famous Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos took advantage of the tradition of the well-known Rooster of Barcelos and transformed it into a tech 10 meters high rooster.

This piece of public art weighs more than three tons, but that's not what will keep it from flying the world. After the Ribeira das Naus, in Lisbon, it will fly through China, where it will be the main figure at the opening of the Chinese year (2017 is the Year of the Rooster in China), and flies to Brazil in January. Pop Galo does not speak, but plays music when pressed on its button.
