Eight Michelin stars in Greater Lisbon

Portugal has yet another reason to celebrate. Better saying, four new reasons. There are four new Michelin stars in the country, that now has just over thirty. In Lisbon alone, eight restaurants have already been awarded the distinction. Read our list to find out which they are:

Alma * *

Henrique Sá Pessoa
The highlight of the gastronomy “Oscars” ceremony was the attribution of the second star to Henrique Sá Pessoa’s restaurant Alma, in Chiado.

Belcanto * *

José Avillez
Up until now, José Avillez' Belcanto was the only Lisbon restaurant to have been awarded a second Michelin star. Some say it is going for the third.

Midori

Paulo Almeida
Chef Paulo Almeida’s Midori was awarded its first Michelin star. This is a double feat as this is the first Asian restaurant in Portugal to be distinguished with a star.

Eleven *

Joachim Körper
Eleven’s kitchen, run by Joachim Koerper, has had its star since 2014. This is one of the most famous restaurants in Lisbon and there is even an executive menu at lunchtime.

Fortaleza do Guincho *

Miguel Rocha Vieira
Fortaleza do Guincho’s kitchen, led by Miguel Rocha Vieira, got its first star in 2001. The location is enviable, with an unparalleled view over the sea and Praia do Guincho.

LOCO *

Alexandre Silva
LOCO means in a place, which means in the kitchen. This kitchen is where Chef Alexandre Silva’s heart lies. The restaurant got its first Michelin star in 2016. More than a meal, in LOCO they serve a full gastronomic experience.

Feitoria *

João Rodrigues
Feitoria, which was awarded its first star last year, bets on a direct contact with earth, matter, and the produce. Feitoria is to be appreciated slowly while enjoying every course to the maximum.
