Living Lisbon

If Lisbon is not the region that draws you to Portugal, would you prefer the Algarve with beautiful beaches, or the north of the country, more oriented at the industry? Unless the Douro valley and its vineyards have to conquer the palate. Portugal is a very diverse country, able to satisfy both nature lovers and the busiest environments, those who dream of beaches or prefer hills. According to your preferences, Portugal has the right area for you.

Lisbon, of course!

The Portuguese capital attracts many francophones who leave in search of a quality and a higher standard of living, thanks to better purchasing power they have in Portugal. In Lisbon there are liveliest neighborhoods, a dense cultural life and the possibility of finding a peaceful and secluded accommodation for those who do not wish to mingle with the crowd. But this is also near the beach towns: Cascais west and the Setúbal peninsula south.

Alentejo

South of Lisbon extends to the Alentejo. In the west you will find beautiful beaches, such as Troy, located in the natural park of Arrábida, see dolphins in Comporta; below is Carvalhal or São Torpes, if you want to go surfing, you will find several practitioners of sport in Melides.

Inside are the pastures of Wetland, cork oaks and olive trees that dot the landscape, interspersed with ancient castles, ruins of the Arab conquests. If living for this part of the region, you will find strong traditions and people rooted to their land. There is also more connection  with nature, you can find out with a nice walk or a bike ride.

Algarve

Probably you will chose this region of Portugal for its beaches and sun. With high demand, this area is well serviced in terms of transport, it has its own airport, and has high quality real estate market goods, which provide comfort, they are mostly new, and still allow you to find some quieter corners without concrete . The beaches are well preserved in this region, and this is one of its biggest attractions, as living in this region will feel like you are on vacation all year long.

The North

If the city of Porto looks darker and industrial at first sight, this is not the same idea after you get to know it better. Go to the mouth of the Douro, where department stores of Porto align and discover a landscape worthy of a postcard. The river offers a romantic touch to the second most important city of the country, extending over the nearby vineyards and extending by some beautiful valleys. A region of Portugal that, despite being a little cold, it pays guests with the warm welcome of its people.

West Beaches

This region of Portugal, called Silver Coast, is strongly developed, both with regard to infrastructure as well as  the economy, and the two often go hand in hand. Along this coast you will find beautiful beaches such as the Figueira da Foz, Nazaré or Peniche and some particularly notable cities (be sure to visit Coimbra and its beautiful university library), fishing villages, medieval towns and historical monuments. This region is cooler than the Algarve, however, with winter temperatures are around 17 ° C during the day, not much different from France.

We could also talk of Madeira and the Azores, other regions of Portugal, but these are much rather more distant, and impossible to be reached only by car. When you decide to visit one of those destinations, you will want to stay for a week or two, so you'll be less likely to choose these places to reside throughout the year.
