Caixa Alfama festival aims to convey the identity and the Portuguese soul through the Fado

Already on 23 and 24 September  the 4th edition of Caixa Alfama Festival in Lisbon will be held, which aims to convey the identity and the Portuguese soul through Fado.

After three sold out editions and a northern experience with Caixa Ribeira, this year the festival returns with sponsorship of the Caixa Geral de Depósitos and the Sound of Music.

The 2016 edition poster features the performances of Carminho (on the photo above), Ricardo Ribeiro, Gisela João and the Palco Caixa which is held on 23rd of September 2016, and on the same stage there will be performances of Beatriz Conceição with Raquel Tavares on the next day.

As follows,  there will also be performances by a group of Maura Airez, Sarah Correia, Arthur Battle Peter Galveias, Diogo Rocha and Miguel Ramos and finally, a solo by Filipa Cardoso.

In addition to the Caixa Stage, which is next to the River Tagus, there are two stages in the Fado Museum and a stage in Largo das Alcaçarias, the church of San Miguel, in the Sport Group Adicense, in Society Boa Uniao, at the Cultural Center Dr. Magalhaes Lima, in St. Stephen's church and the Lusitano Club. Furthermore,  the Fado à janela street festival will take the place at the squares: largo do Chafariz de Dentro and at largo de São Miguel.

In 2015 this festival had success with a total of about 12,000 people attending the different shows, according to the organization's data. The Caixa Alfama was designed to captivate all types of audiences, from Fado  appreciators, to those who are on their way to its discovery.

Do not lose this opportunity to discover the beauty of Fado, which is considered to be an Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
