Portugal will hold 41 international congresses in 2017

The conferences and major events have contributed to the growth of all the regions of the country

Portugal has already secured 41 new international congresses and events of great dimension that will take place outside high season and regions with higher demand. The news was brought by the Tourism Secretary of State, in 42 of the opening session of the Congress of the Portuguese Association of Travel Agencies and Tourism (APAVT), held in Aveiro in early December.

The Secretary of State stressed the importance of the fact, that Portugal has been considered as a destination for congresses and major events, which have contributed to the growth of all the regions of the country, especially the Azores and the Central region. Ana Godinho used to mention the almost 500 international prizes that the country received until October and the 12 thousand articles published all over the world.

The minister also appealed to Congress with the commitment to promote the Chinese market, on the occasion of the direct links between Portugal and China that will start in June 2017. Ana Godinho also highlighted the positive effects that the replacement of VAT restoration of 13 % had for the sector and for job creation.
