Average consumption per tourist increased by 88 euros

 

A study carried out in partnership with the Regional Tourism Authority of Porto and Norte de Portugal and the Sá Carneiro airport, made with the aim of tracing the profiles of tourists visiting Porto and Northern Portugal during the summer, concluded that more than half (53%) of tourists choose it as a holiday destination.

 

 

More than a quarter (28%) of tourists visited Porto and Northern Portugal to visit family or friends, 17% for business reasons and 2% because of the studies. In the period between April and October 2016, the average consumption per tourist rose 88 euros, when compared to previous winter, where it rose up to 539 euros.

 

 

Each tourist spent on average 75 euros per night. The average stay also increased from 6.37 nights in winter to 7.66 nights in the summer, according to the study. Another conclusion of the study is that the majority of tourists booked their trip on the Internet, opting mostly (53%) for flights from low cost airlines. More than half (55%) of the tourists who visit this region are less than 40 years old.
