Foreigners account for 75% for occupying Portuguese hotels

The performance of Portugal hotels from January to June 2016, was the best period of the last twelve years, in terms of the level of occupancy, average room rate and average revenue per tourist. These findings were revealed on 30 August by the Hotel industry Association of Portugal (AHP).


 
The occupancy rate in the first half of 2016 was 63.2 percentage points, rising 3.4% year on year. In addition to having been more occupied rooms, they also cost more guests, the average price per hotel room rose 6.3%, reaching average of 72 euros.


 
Per occupied room, domestic hotels have generated an average revenue of 45 euros, a rise of 12.2% over the first half of 2015. Tourists also spent over 7% in hotels this semester. In fact, in four nights, one was Portuguese and three foreigners, with Germany in the first place (17%), followed by the UK (15%) and France (7%).
