Portugal elected as the world's best golf destination for the third time

Portugal surpassed countries like England, France and Italy

On November 12, at a ceremony held at Conrad Algarve, in Quinta do Lago, Portugal was voted the best golf destination in the world for the third time in a row. The prize was established by the World Golf Awards, which is in charge of assigning the "Oscars" for golf. Portugal topped again countries, such as England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, France, Germany, Spain, Turkey and Italy, who competed in the same category.

Luís Araújo, the president of Turismo de Portugal, says that the country will continue to work in attracting new segments and organizing the Portugal Masters event, which is already scheduled for September 21 to 24, 2017. Currently there are 91 Golf courses in the country, 66 of which have 18 or 27 holes. The Algarve is the region of the country that concentrates the largest number of fields (44%), followed by Lisbon (17.58%).
