Web Summit will attract new kind of tourists to Portugal

The President of Tourism in Portugal predicts a paradigm shift in the type of tourists visiting Portugal

The Web Summit, Europe's biggest technology summit, will take place between 7 and 10 November, attracting some 50,000 people to the Portuguese capital. Luís Araújo, president of Turismo de Portugal, believes that this event will bring a different kind of tourists than usually to Portugal.

"It is a customer that interests us because he is informed, knows what he wants, because he has the capacity to spend, without a doubt, we believe that this is fundamental", explains Luís Araújo. He stresses that the Web Summit, which will be in Lisbon in the next three years, will serve to show that the country "is good to visit, but also to invest and to live in".

For the president of Tourism of Portugal, this week of November is going to look like August in the capital. It is recalled that most of Lisbon hotels have already sold out for these dates because of the Web Summit.
