The new space is located at Anjos and serves homemade meatballs

The Polpetta restaurant was opened at Anjes in Lisbon on 7 November. As the name indicates, because polpetta means dumpling in Italian, this space is dedicated to making meatballs. These are handcrafted and molded in the restaurant itself and the client can opt for meatballs from beef, chicken, pork and vegetables.

The owner of the space is called João Fonseca and decided to import this concept into Portuguese lands, after seeing it in cities, like New York and London. He tested several recipes until he found the ideal meatball for roasting. These meatballs, unlike most that are usually served, are not fried but baked in the oven for 12 minutes.

Each dish costs only € 5.5 and comes with four meatballs and one of four sauces: tomato, mushrooms, pesto and yogurt. The side dishes are ordered separately and cost € 2.5. Meatballs are also served on bread, in a rustic baguette that will gratin the oven. To finish the meal, you can choose chocolate brownie with hazelnuts and ice cream or the salted caramel cheesecake.
