A Very Useful Guide to Portuguese Cuisine

Guide to Portuguese Cuisine
Par Francisco CANDEIAS Il y a 6 ans

More than 200 pages for foreigners to understand Portuguese cuisine better and… to eat like the Portuguese

Lucy Pepper, an English writer living in Portugal, Célia Pedroso, a Portuguese journalist and writer, and Teresa Aires, a Portuguese photographer, are the three authors of the book already printed in 3 languages: in French (Manger Comme Un Portugais), in English (Eat Portugal) and in Spanish (A la Mesa en Portugal).

Already in its fifth edition, this unique book invites us on a trip through Portuguese traditional cuisine. The founding flavors, the habitual and limited variety of ingredients and the family recipes, as well as those of friends and acquaintances are introduced in detail by the authors.

They might have different titles but the content is the same. It helps us understand what to expect in a portuguese menu and it can even serve as an incentive for us to try typical dishes that we didn’t know about, such as jaquinzinhos or pica pau

It’s not just the recipes that make this book, published by Editora Lua de Papel, a useful guide to Portuguese cuisine. There’s also a glossary, a dictionary and a restaurant guide for the regions of Lisbon, Porto, and the Algarve.

Lucy and Célia say they are “absolutely passionate about everything related with food”. In a country where eating and talking about food is enjoyed to the maximum, this book is indispensable
