Restaurante Sal is one of the trendiest places in Comporta, having been elected the best beach bar in 2015 by Condé Nast Traveler. It is located at Praia do Pego, right at the heart of a nature reserve, and it is framed by an immense beach and the never-ending ocean.

 

Sal is a simple, tranquil restaurant that blends seamlessly with its unspoiled surroundings.

 

On the menu there feature many traditional classics: there’s the freshest fish caught on the Portuguese shore,  black squid rice, shrimp, clams, and octopus and chickpea salad. Dulce Castelo, the cook, knows exactly how to make the best of the Portuguese cuisine.

 

If you would rather have a light meal before heading on down to the beach, there are also several salad, fish soup and burger options to choose from.

This restaurant, which has taken over the old Praia do Peixe, is so sought-after during summer that there sometimes are three shifts just for lunch. The reason is simple: the premium location, the unparalleled view and the delicious dishes made with top quality ingredients. What else can we ask for?

 

Sal was born out of its partner’s passion for Comporta and their will to welcome those who visit it. Judging by the customer traffic, we guess their goal was achieved.

 

The decoration fits perfectly with the general ambience: there are paintings on the walls, miniature  hand-painted wooden boats, and a predominance of white that contrasts with the scorching temperatures felt outside.

 

This refuge is so cosy we might think we’re home. No one would guess that Lisbon is just around the corner, only an hour’s drive away. There’s sea, sun, sand, petiscos and cocktails. Are you convinced, yet?
