Marina de Oeiras: Your Boat’s House
For those who arrive in Portugal in their own boat the Oeiras’ Marina is the best place for you and for ride.
The Marina, or Porto de Recreio, at Oeiras waits for your sails in a unique location on the Portuguese coast. It has recently undergone remodeling and has both historical and recreational attractions for those who get tired of so much blue around and need steady ground and refuelling.
The Oeiras Marina has seven pontoons protected by a long breakwater and a vast dry dock. It offers 294 moorings in floating points and 100 dry places in a shipyard with 4,500m2.
Not far away, you will find restaurants, bars, a press shop and several nautical shops.
The Oeiras’ Pousada de Juventude (youth hostel) is 50 meters away, in a beautiful 18th century fortification, originally built to defend locals against piracy. And the best saltwater pool in Lisbon is also right there, just across the road. It has two water plans, one for children with 330m2and 40cm of depth and another for adults with about 1500m2and depth between 120cm and 2 meters. It also has jumping platform, 70cm, 2, 5 and 7.5 meters high.

The location of this marina, Oeiras Recreation Port, is 38o40.60'N / 9o19.00W, right at the mouth of the Tagus river, Atlantic already. The maximum draft it allow is 3.5 meters deep and the prevailing wind blows N - NW. To communicate, use the channel VHF-channel 9.
Entering the mouth of the Tagus, the Marina de Oeiras is approximately 0.5 miles east of the S. Julião Lighthouse (Oc R Ss), with a range of 14 miles, installed on a gray prismatic tower with red dome, 41 meters altitude, located at the coordinates 38o40,466'N / 9o19,515'W. The entrance for this marina is made between north and south piers. North pier: 38o40.62'N / 9o18.99'W. Its limit is marked with white cylindrical tower with green bands, Fl G 3s 8m 1,5M; South pier: 38o40.56'N / 9o19.00'W, marked with white cylindrical tower with red bands, Fl R 3s 8m 1,5M.
The entrance is made heading 277º, until the alignment of pears lighting, after which it must be corrected for SW (approximately 225º) in order to pass between the south jetty and the jetty wharf top (signalized with green light beacon at an altitude of 3m - Lt. 0.5s; Oc. 1.0s; Lt. 0.5s; Oc. 2.0s).
The reception desk operates at high season - May 1 to September 30 - from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm, and at the low season - from October 1 to April 30 - from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.
The organization provides fuel 24 hours a day, and there is security men around the clock, with a closed-circuit surveillance system.
For anyone who is sick of clothing with salt water and no longer supports dressed in hard boards, there is a laundry room that works with tokens available at the front desk, with washing machines, dryers and irons.
If you are not versed in pin pointed manoeuvres, the de Recreio de Oeiras desk offers you a boat valet, which can even take care of your small boat or water jet if you are a weekend sailor; do not be offended, better at weekend sthan ever, is not it?
