Lisboa and Palácio Chiado are the finalists of the Design Awards 2017

Lisboa may be considered the best city of the year

Portugal has two finalists in the Design Awards 2017, sponsored by the magazine "Wallpaper", specialized in design, architecture and lifestyle, which selects the best of each area. In the category "Best City", Lisbon competes with San Francisco, Shenzhen, Vienna and Washington DC. The winners will be announced on January 12th.

The publication considers that the Portuguese capital is in a good phase, after a recovery program that transformed the route from Terreiro do Paço to Baixa. He also praised the new cruise terminal and new luxury hotels, focusing on the new architectural landmark of Lisbon, the MAAT.

In the category of "Best New Restaurant" is Chiado Palace (on the photo) among the nominees. The new Lisbon area is described by the publication as a gastronomic emporium, created from a noble residence of the XVIII century. Inside, it combines several concepts and restaurants, as well as historical and modern pieces, which did not go unnoticed by the "Wallpaper".
