Vasco da Gama Tower - the tallest building in Lisbon
It is the tallest skyscraper building in the country
The Vasco da Gama Tower is the tallest skyscraper in Lisbon, with a height 145 meters, prepared to withstand the winds of 320 km / hour. It looks like the iconic seven-star hotel in Dubai, the Burj Al Arab. It features a billowing sail profile, resembling the numerous Portuguese marine vessels that left the Tagus to discover the world.
It is located in Parque das Nações, next to the Tagus River, and was built for Expo 98, the world exhibition of 1998 that took place in Lisbon. It was designed by the architects Nick Jacobs and Leonor Janeiro. To go up, there are four panoramic elevators.
The Vasco da Gama Tower offers excellent views on the Tagus River, Lisbon and the South Bank, since Expo 98 and until October 2004, when the tower was closed. It was changed to become the hotel Myriad, keeping the view from the panoramic restaurant. This luxury hotel has 186 rooms, two restaurants, a spa and a congress center
