Miradouro da Rua Augusta, Lisboa

This is one of the most cosmopolitan Lisbon avenues and one of the main arteries of the Pombaline reconstruction, after the earthquake of 1755. Most of its buildings maintain the original layout, with the buildings all having a similar architecture, with commercial ground floor and upper floors for housing. The upper floors were built on an internal wooden structure called the Pombaline cage, one of the world's first anti-seismic constructions.

On the south side of Rua Augusta you will find the Museum of Design and Fashion and in the background, before the Commerce Square, the belvedere of the Triumphal Arch Rua Augusta, which offers a breathtaking view of Terreiro do Paço and downtown Lisbon. It is worth exploring this lively street, stop for coffee, visit a store and vibrate with the excitement of the city.
