"For the first time we will have more French tourists, than Spanish"

Although there are still no figures on the hotel occupancy rate for the festive season, Lisbon Tourism Director Vítor Costa believes that "all indicators show that December will be a very positive month", as it has been the rest of the year . "We continue to grow, both in number of tourists and in revenue," he adds.

"This month will be better than last year, because the trend, throughout the year, has been such," confidently stated Vítor Costa. The reasons for growth are related to a greater promotion of tourism among the airways and also to the fact that people are increasingly placing "almost first priority" on traveling.

The director of Turismo de Lisboa also said that for the first time, the French market will be overtaken by the Spaniards. "We will have more French tourists than Spanish, for the first time, which has always been our strongest market. That will be the big news this year. "

In addition to the French and Spanish, Lisbon is most sought after by the Brits. An increase of tourists from the U.S has also been registered. On the other hand, a decline has been registered from German and Brazilian tourists. The manager also said that hotel profitability has grown by 7% during the year and that this growth trend will continue next year.
