The jury held a blind test of three ice cream flavors to discover the best ice cream in the country
The Fragoleto ice cream shop in Lisbon and the La Copa of Porto were the winners of the competition "Gelato Italiano - The best Italian ice cream in Portugal", which took place on November 21 at Praça da Figueira, in Lisbon, in the area Mercato Italia.
The jury was composed of representatives of the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Portugal, the Embassy of Italy and the Italian Institute of Culture, which made a blind test of three ice cream flavors - hazelnut, chocolate and pistachio. The Fragoleto of Lisbon won, as well as the La Cup of Porto, ending up having the same points.
Fragoleto gelataria is considered by the Lonely Planet guide as "the best gelataria in the west of Genoa" and is located on Rua da Prata, in Lisbon. Fragoleto ice creams are handcrafted and have no lactose or gluten. Here you will find unusual flavors like ginger and honey or lemon sorbet with basil.
La Copa, located at Avenida Rodrigues de Freitas, in Porto, proposes more than two dozen handmade flavors. Among these you can opt for seasonal fruit ice-cream or 70% cocoa chocolate.
