Find out which are the two 'coolest' Portuguese hotels in the world

Cooking Hotel and Villa Extramuros conquered the Tablet Hotels platform

Tablet Hotels, an online platform with an exclusive selection of hotel units, has released its list of the 25 "coolest" hotels in the world, which include the most special and unique hotels. Two of these hotels are Portuguese. Cooking Hotel in Alvados, municipality of Porto de Mós, and Villa Extramuros in Arraiolos are the ones chosen in this poll by Tablet Hotels, published by Forbes magazine.

Vila Extramuros

The Cooking Hotel is described in this list as "the ideal place to hang your hat after an adventure through the limestone mountains, gloomy grottos and colossal caves", which mark the environment involves. The exterior architecture, with the fusion of concrete and glass, as well as the decoration of the 12 rooms also deserved prominence. This hotel, which was established in 2012, is also listed in the Condé Nast Traveler's list of Best New Hotels in the World and was considered by The Times as one of the top 20 mountain refuges in Europe.

Villa Extramuros, on the other hand, has only five rooms and is described as a luxurious boutique hotel with minimalist features. "Surrounded by olive groves and a grove of oak trees that invite you to a late afternoon walk," describes Tablet Hotels. It adds "thanks to its intimate dimension, it's almost like staying in a private house, but with all the perks of being in a hotel".

Condé Nast distinguishes twice as many Portuguese hotels in 2016

The reference guide awarded four hotels in Portugal. The Portuguese hotels were honored by the Condé Nast Johansens Excellence Awards 2017. The ceremony took place on November 7 in London. Hotel industry has the best semester in 12 years

The performance of Portugal hotels from January to June 2016, was the best period of the last twelve years, in terms of the level of occupancy, average room rate and average revenue per tourist. These findings were revealed on 30 August by the Hotel industry Association of Portugal (AHP).
