Five unmissable walks around Lisbon

Besides the city itself, there are several places around Lisbon that certainly will win you over

 

In addition to sightseeings in Lisbon, spare some time to discover the surroundings of the city. A few kilometers away are also must-see sites. In a single day can make the path that goes from Lisbon to Sintra to Cabo da Roca, Cascais and Estoril, either by car or transport. Journeys in all totaling less than two hours. Setubal is further away, but also worth the visit.

 

 

Quinta da RegaleiraSintra

It takes 40 minutes to get to Sintra by train. This charming green town  has several attractions. The main one is the Pena Palace, but you can also visit the Moorish Castle, the Palacio da Vila, Monserrate Palace, Quinta da Regaleira and the Convento dos Capuchos. Besides the monuments, the town of Sintra is very beautiful and is full of interesting corners. Discover the shops and stop at Piriquita to grab  travesseiro or  cheesecake, cakes typical of the region.

 

Cabo da Roca

It is the westernmost point of Europe and was described by Camões, the famous Portuguese writer, as the place "where the land ends and the sea begins" (in the Lusíadas, Canto VIII). It is integrated in the Natural Park of Sintra Cascais, which covers a vast area of Nature . Cabo da Roca will come across with a magnificent view of the sea. This place has great tourist traffic and is easily accessible.

 

Cascais

Cascais is a town by the sea, situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Serra de Sintra, which is always an important tourist destination. With inviting beaches, water sports, a rich historical and cultural heritage, a majestic landscape and nightlife, Cascais has everything to please anyone who stays there. Take a walk along the seawall that runs from São João do Estoril to Cascais, visit the historic center of Cascais and its typical streets and stop to admire the beauty of Cascais Bay.

 

Estoril

It was called the "Portuguese Riviera", as Estoril was the place where the wealthy and famous escaped during the 2nd World War. At that time, large hotels and the largest casino in Europe in Estoril was built. Estoril will find good beaches like Tamariz, as well as great mansions, world-class golf courses and a car racing track.

 

SetúbalPortinho da Arrábida

Setúbal is located 30 to 40 minutes from Lisbon and to get there, will go through the Ponte 25 de Abril or the Vasco da Gama Bridge.
