Lisbon is the only European capital with Atlantic beaches

It has more than twenty blue flag beaches in the district that have good environmental conditions. The Lisbon coast offers excellent conditions for water sports and therefore attracts surfers from around the world.

Those who visit Lisbon should take a walk on the beach, take a swim in the Atlantic Ocean, stroll along the beach, watching the sun setting in the sea and indulge oneself with a meal that includes delicious seafood or Portuguese fish on the waterfront.

The municipality of Lisbon has no actual beaches, unless you want to count on Cais das Colunas, but the district has many excellent options.

As praias da Costa da Caparica

The beaches of Costa da Caparica, which were formerly used in the fishing chores, quickly became the most popular in the neighborhood of Lisbon after the inauguration of the 25th of April Bridge in 1966.

To protect the beach and the sea village, there have been built a series of groins, in which is a series of small beaches, separated from the village by the seafront wall, where you can see many people walking, both in summer and in winter. The beaches are all monitored and have the name of their dealers. In hot weather they are quite crowded, however all have good accessibility.
