Recent events have confirmed that the lack of confidence of the deputies in the center-right governor - Pedro Passos Coelho, who joined the PSD (his party) to the Christian Democrats of the CDS.

The left faction, which divided the parliamentary elections of October 4, leaving the center-right this time to reject this confidence by 123 votes to 230. The Socialist Party, the Communist Party and the Left Block have thus found a way to come together after their electoral defeat.

After only 11 days of transmission of power to the now former Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho, Portugal is obliged to review its decision. The issue are the austerity measures that the country was confronted with.

With only 104 elected MPs, the former prime minister had, in fact, the difficult task of finding allies, he was not able not to announce the expected outpouring into Portugal, after these long years of restrictions.

The dissolution of Parliament must be made within six months before or after a presidential election, according to the constitution. But the presidential election will be held in January 2016; which means that regardless of the government that will be created, it will have the confidence of the Assembly, as it appears today.

Policy for tomorrow?

Now is to find common ground to achieve the expected policy by Portuguese with a new proposal from the government, and not repeat the mistakes that cost losing its voice, unless the center-right are allies, which can change the course of politics. Time will tell, but Portugal would benefit from a less rigid policy in the upcoming months, based on consumption revival and less on fiscal restraint.
