The São Jorge Castle began to be built in the second century BC during the Roman occupation of the city and was later occupied by the Arabs. Only in 1147 it was back in the domain of the Portuguese, when it was conquered by Dom Afonso Henriques.

 

Walking through the castle, you will be able to feel the Lisbon's past while dazzles with a magnificent view of the city. It  is an experience that tourists and locals enjoy and is a must during a visit to the Portuguese capital. With its gardens, surmounted by eleven towers, and inspiring landscape, it is not difficult to see that this iconic monument is the most visited monuments in the country.
