Enjoy Lisbon from Graça top viewpoints

Graça neighbourhood has two of the most popular belvederes in Lisbon

 

As the Graça neighborhood is located on the highest hill of Lisbon, it is natural to offer the best belvederes the city has . In fact, it does not have one but two viewpoints: the viewpoint of Graça and the viewpoint Senhora do Monte that despite attracting weekenders and tourists every day, always allow an unobstructed view over the capital.

 

 

Viewpoint Senhora do Monte

This viewpoint, is in front of the chapel with the same name, that has been one of the well kept secrets in Lisbon. It has the best views of the city and is located at the very top of the Graça neighborhood. The panoramic view  covers the Tagus estuary, the Castle of São Jorge, the downtown of Lisbon-Baixa, Bairro Alto, the Serra de Monsanto and Avenida Almirante Reis.

 

To get there you have to climb a little bit. We recommend that you take the Rua da Graça from  Graça square, and then turn to to street towards the viewpoint Senhora do Monte . All this effort will then be rewarded with the sight of one of the highest points of the city. Next to the chapel you can see, is also, a view of Senhora do Monte. In the tile panel next to the chapel can be identified by the various monuments that are observed from the viewpoint.

 

 

Miradouro da Graça

The Graça viewpoint , formally known as viewpoint Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, is situated in the square under the same name. The panoramic view from this viewpoint allows you to see the Castle of São Jorge up till the river, the Mouraria to downtown of Lisbon-Baixa, to the colorful houses of Lisbon, the streets and gardens.

 

On this Graça viewpoint, in addition to the landscape, you can also enjoy the tranquility of the place on the terrace, composed of several tables and chairs. Because it possess two great names of Portuguese poetry: Natalia Correia and_ Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen. The first promoted Botequim bar, located in  Graça square, _ the second gave the name to this Graça viewpoint. Along the Graça  church a bronze bust was put to honor the famous Portuguese poetess.
